For those of you who read my first China & Hong Kong blog post you will know that it was around this time last year that I visited there with my husband and brother-in-law. I apologise for taking so long to write part two, especially as I absolutely loved both countries and can’t wait to go again. I have quite a lot of photographs, so today I’m going to give you Part 2 and some day soon Part 3 and maybe… even a Part 4!
Ok, so after we visited Shenyang we travelled on to Guangzhou, Southeastern China. Guangzhou is a beautiful city located on the Pearl River and we had a fantastic view of it from our hotel the Shangri-La window. After travelling I was really tired, so I decided to take a rest. Three hours later I woke up and the onset of the evening had utterly transformed the cityscape into a spectacular array of glistening, shimmering, lights contrasted against the deep luxurious blue of the sky. The bridge over the river especially looked lit up as with fire, almost dragon like. For a few minutes I just stood gasping at the window, intoxicated by this glory of architecture and technology and then realised that if I didn’t get a move on I would be late for our evening out. Since Oliver and my brother-in-law had eaten already, I would be ordering my dinner on room service. I love ordering room service meals, it’s one of my favourite things to do! I can’t remember what I had eaten but it was good. I’d been in too much of a rush to take a photo. Thankfully I managed to get ready on time and I will tell you where we went that evening a blog post soon.
The next day we travelled about forty minutes into a more rural area of Guangzhou and met with some lovely business people connected to my husband’s work. They showed us superb hospitality and took us for a meal in an outdoor restaurant next to a lake. Again the atmosphere was tropical and gorgeous and the food delicious. We had a selection of tender meat, fish and vegetable dishes there and I wish I had taken more photos so I could try and cook these dishes at home.
